Label Alignment

Both top and side alignment of labels have benefits and drawbacks. Top alignment or side alignment (right justified) are advised.

Top Alignment

  • Allows for faster visual processing - user only has to move in one direction: down.
  • Label content has more room to expand - other languages can be considerably longer.
  • Takes more vertical height of page

Side Alignment (right justified)

  • Association between label and input is clear
  • Less vertical height of the page is used compared with top alignment
