Action Button Label Pattern

Use the correlating verb to label action buttons.

What is the Solution?

Change the label of the standard OK Button and Submit Button to a verb that directly ties the action to the button. Ex. If the users action formats the disc, replace OK with format. Furthermore, if applicable, add a noun to minimize user's mental processing. In the last example, labeling the button format disc would accomplish this.

When to Use this Pattern

Use the correlating verb if changing the label to the correlating verb would eliminate confusion for the user.
